This form of kidney transplantation is highly beneficial for patients and reduces complications like post transplant diabetes mellitus to very low levels which is otherwise high in India. It provides all types of facilities for the management of patients suffering from kidney diseases. We have 12 modern haemodialysis machines. We also have an imported Reverse Osmosis machine for water purification which supplies water online for haemodialysis . We started our transplantation programme in 1991 and two patients who underwent transplantation in March 91 are doing well till now. The success rate of Transplant is around 96% and it is equal to the best in the world. We are also running a cadaver transplant programme. Patients who are suffering from chronic renal failure and who do not have family donors can come and register here and whenever the cadaveric kidney is available we call the patient immediately for transplantation. This facility of cadaveric transplant is available at very few centers in the country. A cadaveric donor is the one who has suffered a brain death and his organs can be removed for the purpose of the transplant if the family members are willing.
Apart from this, we also offer CAVH for dialysis of critically ill patients in ICU. The other treatments, which are available here are Renal Biopsy, Peritoneal Dialysis, haemoperfusion and plasmaphoresis. All types of emergencies including snakebites can be handled at any time.
